Hey legends..

in true startup fashion 2023 has been a wild ride. Time has flown and it’s crazy that the end of the calendar year is creepin’ up slowly (Taxiride pun intended).

Since launching the DBSC in January this year plenty has evolved on how the club looks and what we offer. Our intention has always been to create opportunities through the power of community and network for the awesome people and businesses that are part of the broader Funny Business podcast and DBSC ecosystem.

We are truly driven by the desire to help people DREAM BIG!!!

Our launch party in May was insane, the turnout was wild and we know how many cool projects, business opportunities and new friendships have stemmed from that night. Exactly what we intended and we plan to host plenty more events to come in the near future all across Aus!

Our design principles when thinking about how we shape the DBSC universe is all about creating alternative pathways, partnerships and learning opportunities to assist in making the “Dream Big” moment happen for our members.

Startup infrastructure in Australia is still maturing, there are many unknowns, knowledge blackboxes and for many a difficult space to navigate, and what we know is true is that building and creating anything is already a hard task. Startups are brutal and here at DBSC we believe that it takes a village to raise a startup.

In late 2022 and early 2023 we had been working on a partnership that would allow the DBSC to act as a talent scout for startups looking to raise an equity crowd funding round, through Chris’ role as head of the Ventures at a leading Australia equity crowdfunding platform.

In March/April after months working through how we saw the concept of DBSC working, the type of people in the community and what help they desire. We all realised that if we banded together then we could actually accelerate the vision, make greater impact and build something more meaningful together.

Chris has now joined the founding team and has taken up the role as Director, leading and driving the new ventures and startup advisory arm of the social club.

One of the reasons we love startups is how quickly things can change and evolve for the better, having Chris join us presented us with this opportunity to chase our dream of building a business networking club for people who operate or are interested in the world of startups.

Our syndicate aims to democratise access to investment deal flow to the wider DBSC network and provide opportunities for startups to access capital and the right strategic investors for their business.

We want to share the opportunity to invest in early stage startups (Pre-Seed-Series A) on a deal by deal basis, with a small minimum cheque size. There is no fee to join and no obligation to invest.
